We have been learning about nouns and action verbs. Today the girls labeled Nancy with as many nouns as they could think of, and the boys labeled Victor with lots of verbs! Then, they shared their project with the rest of the class.

Calling All Inventors!
This isn't through our school district, but I thought I would pass on this cool opportunity for kids grade K-12!
Calling Student Inventors!
MN Student Inventors Congress Student Competition
Do you have an idea for a great invention? Creativity,
innovation, problem solving and the invention process are the main
elements of the Minnesota Student Inventors Congress. Students are
challenged to identify a problem, research it, test solutions, document
results and then display the results of this process. MSIC advisors
receive a packet containing information for the event and "how to teach
an invention unit."

Tens and Ones
During math, we have been focusing on place value. The first graders need to be able to tell me, for example, that 23 is 2 tens and 3 ones. We used pretzel sticks and jelly beans to show numbers today! :)
