Dental Health

We learned about the importance of dental health today. It is so awesome when the high schoolers come and share their knowledge with us. One of the many reasons JWP is an awesome place!

Oh, The Places You'll Go!

HOMEWORK

JWP School District elementary teachers use the “10 minute rule” as a general guideline. On average, your child should spend approximately 10 times his or her grade level on homework per evening.

1st grade = 10 minutes

Oral or silent reading is not included in the “10 minute rule.” Parents of primary age students (grades K-3) should spend 10-20 minutes per night reading to or with your child.

Expect to see these in Thursday folders (no need to return these to school):

Sight/Spelling Word Lists - I would like your child to use the "10 minutes" per school day evening practicing our weekly words.

READO - You will get a new sheet each month. Use if you choose. X off boxes as you complete a reading task. Try to get as many READOs as you can!

Fluency Folders (Start in December) - These folders stay at home. We practice the stories at school daily. On Fridays, the kids will read the phrases and one of the stories to me or the class.

We do a few projects throughout the year where a little help at home will be needed. Look for notes in Thursday folders. If that is ever a problem, please just contact me and we can work something out!
